Additional institutions in the suburban communities include Temple College in Taylor and the Texas State University extension in Round Rock.

The Austin metropolitan area has no major-league professional sports teams, but is home to several minor-league teams, as well as the Texas Longhorns collegiate sports programs and the Circuit of the Americas motor-racing circuit.
